Air sprung forks are lighter than coils but also expensive. Amongst the mtb forks is the air sprung fork. This particular fork is lighter than the usual coils but on the other hand also expensive. The preload is the amount that your springs are compressed when they are extended fully. A coil sprung fork will come with less preload on it. If you are able to turn the grooved cap at the top end of the fork clockwise, you will be able to preload it. This entails that the spring is pressed down and it will make the fork feel sturdier.
